Summer activities

The summer in Lapland is intense. The sun sparks to life and burns for 100 days and nights without setting, melting snow and ice and transforming the countryside into a vibrant green. The nights are as bright as the days. Welcome to experince summer in Jukkasjärvi from June 10th to August 22nd 2010.

Adventures under the Midnight Sun
The period from early June to late July, is like one long day north of the Arctic Circle. The sun never reaches the horizon, it is visible even at midnight, which is called the Midnight Sun. Sleep is irrelevant and your energy reserves are almost unlimited. Take advantage of it. Experience nature at night - when all the excitement happens.
Hunting & fishing
Lapland offers amazing opportunities for exciting hunting in spectacular wilderness. Lapland has Europe’s largest bull moose as well as excellent populations of ptarmigan, capercaillie, grouse and black grouse. As well as some of the most well-renowned fishing waters where char, grayling and salmon swim side by side.
River rafting & canoe
Since the 70's, ICEHOTEL has arranged adventures for tourists during summertime where river rafting being the number one activity. Rafting has something for everyone, young or old, timid or brave.
Sami culture
When you come to Jukkasjärvi in Sweden, you also come to Sápmi - the Sami people's own name of their land. The Sami (lappish people) that lives here speak their own language and have their own culture.
Driving adventures
The ice awaits, the engine is revving, the snow flying. To sit behind the wheel of a car or four-wheel ATV, stepping on the gas and drive over ice, snow, land and forest, is a real adrenaline rush. It is also a learning experience, you practice mastering motor vehicles on challenging terrain. In addition, you can compete against your friends - which one of you is the most skilled driver?
Moose, reindeer & horse
In our neck of the woods, there are plenty of reindeer and moose. Chances to meet them during our tours are very good, whether you travel by snowmobile or on horseback. On our Sami activities you can meet and feed domesticated reindeers, or why not try driving a reindeer sled on your own?
Esrange Space Center
Esrange Space Center, the Swedish Space Corporation’s (SSC) site, is an international center for space and environmental research and located 45 km outside of Kiruna.

We hold a range of courses on life in the woods and in the mountains, team building and leadership development. Our popular ice sculpting classes are available both winter and summer and this year we have added many more interesting and inspirational courses to our repertoire.
