ICEBAR TOKYO opens 1st June in Ginza

Interior Crafted from 40 Tons of Arctic Ice from Sweden Presenting a Fantastic Natural Ice Blue World at the Heart of Tokyo’s Most Celebrated Entertainment Quarter, in Temperatures of Minus 5° C/23 F.

Visitors to Sweden’s northern region of Lapland are already venturing into the area known as the Artic Circle. For ICEBAR TOKYO, transported directly to Ginza from this frozen realm is 40 tons of what is highly touted as the world’s most exquisite natural ice, which is then crafted into a spectacular icy blue world designed to awe and inspire visitors to a truly special establishment.

The new catchphrase coined in connection with ICEBAR TOKYO is “Twisted Ice.” This concept underscores the mission of reaching beyond the mere positioning of ice art indoors, in attempting to truly bring the intricate interior creations to life. In that sense, this Artic ice from Sweden is uniquely “twisted and tweaked” to generate a distinctive sense of vitality and humor. What’s more, the ICEBAR interior design will be renewed annually to reflect the freewheeling imaginations and themes of the ICEHOTEL artistic team.

ICEHOTEL Architect Ake Larsson and Art Director Arne Bergh contributed to the grand opening of the Ginza ICEBAR TOKYO with the guiding theme of “Purity with a Twist.” As the very name suggests, their hopes are that guests will enjoy the cool and creative new works in a playful mood and relaxed spirit.

ICEHOTEL Director Agnetha Lund offered the following comments on this proud occasion: “In bringing ICEBAR TOKYO to the Ginza, our vision is to nurture a delicate and sensitive design and ambiance amenable to the highly discriminating customers of Japan, thereby raising the level of client satisfaction to superb new heights. It is our sincere hope that our guests will interact with the world of ice art springing from the imaginations of the artist and designer, thereby embracing nostalgic images of the vitality and purity of their own special childhood adventures and explorations."

The entrance to ICEBAR TOKYO is the gateway to a spatial dimension both fantastic and far removed from everyday life, with customers feeling as if they have been beamed over to Sweden’s Lapland or Jukkasjärvi regions. The next time you visit the Ginza, take the time to savor the extraordinary atmosphere of this dynamic new realm of ice, art and leisure.”

ABOUT ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL
ICEHOTEL has been bringing ice bars to the world since 1994. In April 2009 a new bar concept saw the light of day as the world’s first ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL opened in the Danish capital Copenhagen. No one can recreate a place as unique as ICEHOTEL but visiting an ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL will, for a moment, teleport you to Jukkasjärvi in Swedish Lapland.
