Tsu-Ki No Ma

Art Suite 301

Sakai Hiroyoshi, Japan.

As you enter ‘Tsu-ki No Ma’ one is immediately bathed in mild moonlight. Crisp, polished snow walls creating a passage lit with moon beams as you approach a full ice moon. With each step through this passage you can feel the weights of the world lifted from your shoulders. You can’t help but wonder; “where will this take me?”

Sakai Hiroyoshi comes to ICEHOTEL for his eighth season from Japan. He continues to leave everyone speechless with each design. In addition to his passion of sculpting wood, Sakai also teaches wood sculpting at the Swedish Center Foundation and the Hokkaido Asai Gakuen University. Sakai earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Wood Craft Design at the Hokkaido University of Education.
